Travel Information

FLYING IN: You will be flying into Lebanon's only commercial airport, Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport (BEY). Most major airlines and airline alliances fly to BEY. The Lebanese airline company is called MEA (Middle East Airlines), a member of SkyTeam alliance. They have flights to and from most major cities in Europe, Africa, and Asia. The venue (Michael Garden) is about 30km north of the airport.
IMMIGRATION/VISA: Once you land, you will need to pass immigration. Many of you do not need a visa for entry in Lebanon, so you will queue in the internationals line at immigration. If you need a visa, it should be provided for you upon entry, so queue in the visa line at immigration. Please make sure to confirm your visa situation before coming to Lebanon.
SIM: After you pick up your bags and pass customs, you will enter the arrivals lounge. To the right of where you come out, there is a shop where you can purchase a Lebanese SIM card. Choose the prepaid plan you want. Lebanon has two mobile providers: Alfa and Touch.

Transportation

There are many ways to get around in Lebanon, but we'd like to give you a heads-up on some of them:

Regular taxis in Lebanon are prevalent especially in Beirut. These taxis do not have meters and the price of the ride should be negotiated with the driver before you get in.
Uber is available in Beirut and some other parts of Lebanon. Another ride-sharing app called Careem (recently acquired by Uber) is also available in some areas of Lebanon.
Since Uber and Careem might not be available everywhere, keep with you a number to well-known private cab companies (e.g. Allo Taxi).
Of course, you can rent a car in Lebanon if you prefer to be free while moving around. There are rental companies at the airport and in Beirut. Beirut is your run-of-the-mill busy city, so expect traffic jams and aggressive driving there.

Accommodation

The bride and groom will be spending their first night together as a married couple in a hotel near the venue. Below are a couple of hotel options nearby for the night of the wedding. There is a lively region west of the highway called Maameltein, where many affordable hotels also exist. Since there are several super night clubs (cabarets) in this area, some of these hotels might be a destination for escorts and "men/women of the night". So, we recommend you avoid these hotels unless ....

Regency Palace Hotel is about 5 mins north of the venue.

Burj on Bay Hotel is about 7 mins north of the venue.

Things to do in the Region

There is something for everyone in Lebanon. The country has plenty of tourist attractions and we wouldn't do them justice by listing only a few. So, here is TripAdvisor's list of attractions that you can look through.

Around the venue area, there are a few attractions that we want to highlight:

Jeita Grotto: This cave is in between the venue and Beirut. It was one of the finalists for the 7 Wonders of the World. It is a huge cave that dates millions of years old. Getting to it and taking a tour inside is fun.
Harissa (Jounieh): The nearest city to the venue is Jounieh. There you can take a cable car (telefrique) to the Our Lady of Lebanon shrine. It has a great view of the Jouneih Bay too, so a lot of tourists go there for epic selfies. Fingers crossed for a clear day!
Byblos: It is another city north of Jounieh and our venue. It is on the sea too, so they have lovely restaurants and an open air market. This city is also called Jubeil. There is an old fort there that you can tour.
